Constructive talks were held on expanding economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Singapore
An online presentation of Uzbekistan's economic and investment potential was held in Singapore for member companies of the Singapore-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SMCCI) and the country's business circles in general.
SMCCI President Farid Khan, employees of this organization,
as well as representatives of more than 60 SMCCI member companies took part in the event on behalf of the Singapore side. The multilateral meeting was also attended by the heads of Singapore companies from Canada.
The Singapore-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, established in 1956, is an independent non-profit organization. Plays an active role in representing the interests of the local Malay business community. As of January 2022, 711 companies are members of SMCCI.
The Uzbek side was represented by the First Deputy Chairman of the Association "Uzegmoisanoat" Kamar Serkaev, directors of the relevant departments of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage and the Chamber of Commerce.
The participants of the event were provided with detailed information about the current economic development of the republic,
its investment potential and new opportunities for Singapore companies in the development of tourism infrastructure and its services, deep processing of agricultural products and the production of finished food products, as well as prospects for cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises of the two countries.
Farid Khan said that after the relaxation of quarantine measures in Singapore, SMCCI can finally begin
to the projects that have been discussed with the Embassy for a long time, aimed at intensifying investment and trade and economic cooperation between the countries.
He stressed the great interest of the Singapore business community and, in particular, SMCCI member companies in establishing long-term partnerships with representatives of industry associations and private circles of Uzbekistan.
