Tashkent hosted the Uzbek-Turkmen Business Forum

April 24, 2018.  Within the framework of the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan, the Uzbek-Turkmen business forum was held with the participation of business circles of the two countries.

The forum was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the State Committee for Investments of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Turkmenistan, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.

The purpose of this event is to promote the establishment of trade relations between companies of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, to work out the issues of creating new joint ventures and implementing new investment projects.

During the forum, the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan Orazmyrat Gurbannazarov underlined the positive dynamics of Uzbekistan's economic growth, welcomed the efforts of the government of our republic to liberalize various sectors of the economy, creation of necessary conditions for foreign investors.

During the event, the participants were introduced to the large-scale economic reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, measures taken to liberalize the economy and the foreign exchange market, improve the business environment, increase the investment attractiveness of the country's economy, as well as conditions for foreign investors in existing and newly created FEZ. Also, there were presented video clips demonstrating the economic development of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, as well as broad opportunities for long-term cooperation in various fields.

As a result of the business forum, the parties discussed the priority areas for the development of cooperation, primarily in the trade, economic and investment spheres.

It was decided to organize similar events twice a year.

Based on the results of the past events, agreements were reached for the amount of more than 250 million US dollars.

In the Republic of Uzbekistan, 11 enterprises operate with the participation of the Turkmen side, including 10 joint ventures and 1 enterprise with 100% Turkmen capital.

Main fields of activity: trade and services, textile industry and much more.

On the territory of Turkmenistan, two enterprises were established with the participation of residents of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with the aim of organizing the export of industrial products to the Turkmen market.
