    Uzbekistan and India discussed the expansion of bilateral relations

    On August 16, Tashkent hosted the 11th meeting of the Uzbek-Indian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation.

    To attend the meeting, the delegation of business circles of India arrived in Tashkent, which included more than 100 representatives of a number of state structures and departments of the republic and the largest Indian companies that are participants of the Confederation of Indian Industry, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry "India -CIS" and individual representatives of business structures.

    The main agenda of the 11th meeting of the intergovernmental commission was devoted to the expansion and strengthening of cooperation between countries in such areas as information and communication technologies, innovations, tourism, medicine and pharmaceuticals.

    The business forum was also held on the margins of the meeting, organized with the participation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, and includes panel sessions on such areas as "Prospects for the development of cooperation in the field of agriculture and food industry", "Prospects for the development of industrial cooperation between Uzbekistan and India , strengthening of investment cooperation and Perspectives of Uzbek-Indian cooperation in tourism, ICT and medical services " authorized bodies, state organizations and associations, as well as representatives of the khokimiyat.

    During the panel sessions, an exchange of views took place on the experience of Indian companies in processing, storing and exporting fruit and vegetable products, improving the export performance of Uzbek fruit and vegetable products and expanding its geography, in the prospective areas of mutual trade development and discussing investment proposals proposed for implementation together with Indian partners in the field of textile industry, pharmaceuticals, as well as on the proposed projects for the program of localization in electrical engineering ICT.

    Strengths of public health in India, such as providing the field with qualified personnel, the formation of sustainable organizational structures of medical institutions, effective monitoring and prevention of diseases, including early detection of health disorders are also one of the priority areas for further cooperation. Within the framework of the panel session, an exchange of views on the provision of medical services by foreign experts and the involvement of Indian medical institutions in projects for the establishment of hospitals and diagnostic centers in Uzbekistan was held.

    Today, Indian companies in Uzbekistan operate in wholesale and retail trade, manufacturing, petroleum products and chemical products, textile and leather goods, food, services, agriculture and construction.

    139 enterprises with the participation of Indian capital work on the territory of the republic. Including 59 joint ventures with 80 percent and 100 percent foreign capital.

    In recent years, taking into account the measures taken to create a favorable investment climate, there has been an intensification of Indian business in Uzbekistan, which is confirmed by an increase in the number of registered enterprises with the participation of Indian capital since early 2018.

    Upon completion of the 11th meeting of the Uzbek-Indian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation and the Uzbek-Indian business forum, it is planned to visit the tourist cities of Samarkand and Bukhara.
