Meeting with students of the National Defense College of Bangladesh
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan held a meeting with representatives of the National Defense College of the People's Republic of Bangladesh as part of their study tour to Uzbekistan in the period from
September 15-21, 2018.
The National Defense College of Bangladesh was established on December 7, 1996. and officially began its activities on January 10, 1999, is training specialists in the defense of Bangladesh and foreign countries. One of the activities of this institution is the conduct of strategic research.
The meeting in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry was attended by participants of the training session from countries such as Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria.
The members of the delegation were provided with information on the "Strategy of Action for the five priority directions of the development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021", in particular, the results of ongoing reforms to ensure openness of the economy, protect investment of foreign investors, sustainable business development and increase the share of private property in the economy, as well as expansion and strengthening of good-neighborly and trade and economic relations between the countries of Central Asia.
The delegation was also acquainted with information on free economic zones established on the territory of the republic, the state of development of trade, economic and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Bangladesh, as well as the activities of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and its regional units.
As promising areas for strengthening bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, the parties listed such sectors as cotton processing and the production of finished textile products, increased mutual supplies of fruit and vegetable products, chemical industry, fisheries, and the development of "pilgrim tourism" to increase the tourist flow to Uzbekistan of the above-mentioned countries, where the majority of citizens are Muslims.
In accordance with the program of the visit, the visit of the delegation to the Samarkand region is planned to familiarize with the historical sights of the city of Samarkand.
